
Take a Class
Classes are available to everyone, and for Platinum Members they're included as part of your membership! Our team of qualified instructors are experienced, knowledgeable and totally motivated to get you moving.
Right now we offer live and on-demand virtual classes to all University staff and students, free of charge to help with your physical and mental well-being.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the Sports Centre is not offering face-to-face classes. We constantly review the Government restrictions and hope to have classes back up and running soon.
Virtual classes are now on Teams
Join the ‘Be Safe, Be Active’ group on Microsoft Teams and get access to a variety of Live and On Demand Exercise Classes, there is a Couch 2 5k Running Group, Workout Tips and Advice and more.
We've teamed up with the Students Union too with loads of great activities to get involved with during the pandemic - all completely free. Just click the link to join the group on Microsoft Teams.

Here, you'll find information on all of the classes that we currently offer. If you have any questions, you can click on the link below the classes which will take you to the respecitive pages, or give us a call at reception.
Fitness classes
There's no need to book on to classes at the moment as most of our classes are hosted online. To get involved, simply click on the class you want and you'll be directed to the Be Safe, Be Active group on Microsoft Teams where you'll find all the timings and on-demand content.
Swimming lessons
To book a lesson, you'll need to contact the reception desk on 01524 510600. Normal swimming sessions can be booked via the Bookings Portal.

Climbing lessons
Some climbing lessons can be booked online. For everything else contact reception on 01524 510600 or email climbing@lancaster.ac.uk.

Beginner Climbing Class
This course will teach you how to climb. The instructors will provide you with the fundamental skills and you can develop the experience required to become a registered climber. As a guide, it usually takes between 3 & 5 lessons to become competent at climbing.

Refresher Climbing Class
If you’ve climbed in the past but need reminding of the process, then join us for the refresher course where we recap equipment use, tying into the rope, belaying methods and safety.

Taster Class
A taster session is great for those who would like to get an idea of what indoor climbing involves. The hour-long class will consist of learning basic skills such as fitting a harness, tying a figure of eight knot and belaying, you'll then do some bouldering and top roping.
