Personal interests

Music - the list starts from jazz (Garbarek, Jarrett) and does not end, but includes classical and folk music. Relatively recently I started to very slowly learn to play tenor saxophone - can just about play a few standards.

Photography - I can safely say that I am a better photographer than a sax player. A few of my landscapes are on Google Maps soon to be retired Panoramio , and one day soon I will put a decent portfolio on Flickr.

Food - I like food, this runs in the family. And it includes making food using both simple tools and all manner of gadgets. I built a rather large brick pizza oven in our garden one summer. It does make a fantastic pizza, cooks the entire Christmas Lunch (including large birds or fish) and creates a great social space in the back of the house, weather permitting.

Cats - until early 2000s I was still a dog person, not being able to forget my dog from many years ago. However in the course of this century I discovered cats as sociable and interesting members of the family group. I am not putting our cat photos here for two reasons: one is the fear of being accused of favouritism, the other is that the Internet is already full of them. Maybe one day - they do make great models, mainly because they are rarely self-conscious and also because a lot of of the time they do not move much.

Sailing - something I did all the summer most years is now nearly forgotten, but I still dream of a cruise around the Adriatic or the Greek islands.

I am also occasionally seen with a book in my hand, and the book is not work. I like good cinema too.

All this .. and I also really like being with my family.
