STOR-i
I joined STOR-i in October 2024 and am excited to be part of the centre. The course focuses on both Statistics and Operations Research and although my background has been in mathematics and statistics, I am looking forward to returning to Operations Research after taking modules of it in my first year at undergrad. The collaborative working environment, the variety of topics and the training opportunities at during the MRes year at STOR-i will help me further develop my skills and research interests before starting on my PhD. To find out more about my current research topics, please check out my Research page.
Undergraduate at Lancaster University
I graduated from Lancaster University in 2024 when I completed my MSci in Mathematics. I started the course with a strong interest in pure mathematics and even completed my fourth year dissertation on Profinite Groups and the Hausdorff Dimension. However as the course developed, I became more interested in statistics as I considered their usage in solving real-world problems. I particularly enjoyed my modules on extreme value theory and likelihood inference, and I look forward to exploring them further. After attending the maths summer school run by the London Mathematical Society and exploring different research topics, this confirmed my decision to continue in academia and join STOR-i.
My Hobbies
Throughout my time at university, I have enjoyed playing netball for both my college and the university. This includes representing Lancaster University at our annual Roses sports tournament against York (Roses are Red!). I also spend a lot of time outdoors, exploring the local area or going for walks further afield. And when I’m not doing either of these, I’m probably reading a good book as I always have several on the go and am happy to take any recommendations!
