STOR-i, Lancaster University
I am a student at STOR-i, a Centre for Doctoral Training at Lancaster University, since October 2024. So far, STOR-i has surpassed all expectations for me; I have developed my research, computation and mathematical skills alongside a supportive cohort of students. During my undergraduate degree, I focused on pure mathematics and theoretical physics. However, after graduating, I wanted to continue my education and explore new branches of mathematics. Statistics and operations research interested me due to their real-life applications, and the connections with industry at STOR-i particularly appealed to me. I also liked STOR-i’s focus on collaboration and outreach opportunities; during my degree, I worked for several programmes designed at increasing participation in mathematics.
