Hello! I’m Joe Rutherford, and I am currently studying for a PhD in Statistics and Operational Research at Lancaster University. This is my academic website, where you can find out more about me<\/a>, read about any research<\/a> I have done or am interested in doing, and read any blogs<\/a> I write; if you are intrigued by any of this or have any questions, feel free to please contact me<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Education<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

I finished my A-Levels in Chemistry, Mathematics and Further Mathematics in 2020, and I subsequently began studying my BSc in Mathematics at Lancaster University, which I went on to finish in 2023. While studying for my BSc, I realised that I was very interested in the Statistics modules, so when I was approached and offered a place on the STOR-i course, I felt like it would be a great opportunity for me to further my passion for Statistics whilst also getting the opportunity to learn about Operational Research. In 2024, I finished my MRes in Statistics and Operational Research, and will continue my dissertation project for my PhD.<\/p>\n\n\n

Hobbies<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

In my free time, I enjoy doing things that make my brain tick, like solving one of my Rubik’s cube (or related) puzzles, completing logic puzzles, doing Sudoku, and doing jigsaws. I also play a Tenor Horn and play in my university Brass Band, taking part in the annual UniBrass competition and Whit Friday Marches. I also play in Pilling Jubilee Silver Band, which is a competing Brass band in which I compete in the North West Regional Championships.<\/p>\n\n\n
