Focused on the trade-off between maximising the statistical power of a specific treatment comparison and patient benefit.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-tiny-font-size\"><strong>Presenting and Communication<\/strong> &#8211; presented my research to STOR-i students and staff, via a presentation.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-color has-background has-link-color has-small-font-size wp-elements-44bd6ff850f31df8db766e60b8b57c66\" style=\"color:#d12e5c;background-color:#2ed1a3\">MRes RT 1 Report: <strong>Inventory Management for Perishable Products<\/strong> <\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-small-font-size\">Supervisor: Dr Anna-Lena Sachs<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list has-small-font-size\">\n<li class=\"has-tiny-font-size\">Investigated two approaches to tackle the problem &#8211; fixed shelf life and random shelf life by exploring a range of models to try and ensure that the supply of a product is equal to the amount needed to satisfy random customer demand, minimising extra costs and waste in turn.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-color has-background has-link-color has-small-font-size wp-elements-da25e788520da64f650420d696ac6ae2\" style=\"color:#d12e5c;background-color:#2ed1a3\">BSc Project: <em>The Mathematics of Musical Instruments: The Flute and Clarinet<\/em><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-small-font-size\">Supervisor: Dr Claire Gilson <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list has-tiny-font-size\">\n<li>Investigated and identified differences between the pressure and motion of the waves in the instrument and the sounds produced, for example, the natural frequencies.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Investigated the acoustics of each instrument, in particular, the flow dynamics of the sound sources of each instrument; an air jet for the flute and a single reed for the clarinet were explored.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-color has-background has-link-color has-small-font-size wp-elements-3d8a6ac03e59273a1cc0a8f1d73fab96\" style=\"color:#d12e5c;background-color:#2ed1a3\">STOR-i Research Internship: <strong><em>SAPTIO-Temporal Modelling of Epidemics: hhh4<\/em><\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-small-font-size\">Supervisor: Jordan Hood<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list has-small-font-size\">\n<li class=\"has-tiny-font-size\"><strong>Research:<\/strong> Investigated the UK measles outbreak between 1944 to 1962 using the hhh4 model to explore the best fitting model and predicting future outbreaks. This was carried out to find what an endgame scenario might look like to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, which is difficult to do as vaccines do not provide 100% immunity, world changing events and societies changing behaviours have a large impact on how infectious diseases spread.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-tiny-font-size\"><strong>Presenting and Communication<\/strong> &#8211; presented my research to interns, Masters and PhD students and staff at STOR-i, via a presentation and as an academic poster.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-tiny-font-size\"><strong>Problem solving and Collaboration<\/strong> &#8211; participated in several group competitions such as the Travelling Salesman Problem.
