Background<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Prior to starting at STOR-i<\/a><\/strong>, I completed an undergraduate degree in Mathematics and Statistics from the University of Glasgow. During my undergraduate degree, I developed a particular interest in Statistics and its wide variety of applications to real world problems which motivated me to complete a summer internship<\/a><\/strong>. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

I explored the UK measles outbreak between 1944 to 1962 using the hhh4 model to explore the best fitting model and to predict future outbreaks with the vision to find an endgame scenario to the Covid-19 pandemic with its many challenges. My internship and degree increased my passion for problem solving and gave me a valuable insight into the current world of research in which Statistics and Operational Research is used.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I decided to join STOR-i because of its collaborative research environment and links to industry partners. In addition, the MRes year is a great opportunity to participate in engaging courses which will help me to identify areas of research that interest me and develop my skills in research before undertaking a PhD.<\/p>\n<\/div>

Hobbies<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

During my spare time, I enjoy walking\/hiking, but my main hobby is centred around numerous musical activities. I play several musical instruments, including flute, piccolo, violin and piano. I currently play the Flute and Piccolo in Lancaster University <\/a>Orchestra and Haffner<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

During my undergraduate degree, I played with the Kelvin Ensemble and enjoyed my roles as Fundraising Manager and Secretary across the years. A couple of previous concerts that I performed in can be found here<\/a>. <\/p>\n<\/div>
