Last week we welcomed our new cohort of MRes students to STOR-i. This year eight students from the UK, Europe and China arrived at Lancaster to start the STOR-i programme.

As part of the welcome week induction programme, the MRes cohort, along with the 1st year PhD cohort and various staff members, spent two days in Cumbria enjoying a packed schedule of team-building activities. The two-day event saw teams of staff and students competing against each other in a series of different physical and mental challenges, whilst also allowing the new cohort time to get to know each other in a fun and relaxed setting.

Activities on the first day were based around the hotel and included a variety of indoor and outdoor team challenges. The second day saw us taking on a high and low ropes course in the woods, followed by an orienteering and logic puzzle challenge in the afternoon.

The rain held off for the most part and we all had a great time getting to know each other whilst learning some interesting new skills!
