In the PhD component, assessment is via a submitted PhD thesis.
Broader assessment and feedback to students at this stage is made through their engagement with STOR-i training activities which develop new skills in Public and Media Engagement, Impact of Research, Leadership and Project Management and national CPD STOR schemes. Students activities in practicing these skills are also assessed through their involvement in project development and supervision of internships; mentoring and leading group activities for the MRes students; organising STOR-i activities; applying for and managing grants; developing and disseminating press releases, software and maintaining their website. Though not formally assessed these aspects of skills development are given a high priority and a culture of strong commitment to them is fostered.
Successful candidates on the full programme will graduate with both an MRes and a PhD.
