Alternative examination arrangements
Most undergraduate examinations are held during the summer term and are organised by the Exams Office in the Student Registry. Some courses and modules have exams at other times during the year which may be managed by your department.
How do I make alternative arrangements?
If you need any specific adaptations when taking exams, please contact the Disability Service to discuss your needs. Any examination adjustments required should be made known as soon as possible to enable the necessary adjustments to be implemented.
Your exam adjustments will then be outlined on your Inclusive Learning and Support Plan (ILSP). If you need adjustments which are not on your ILSP please contact the Disability Service.
If you have had an injury and feel you may require adapted examination arrangements and you are not registered with our Disabilities Service, please contact the Base in the first instance (email: firstname.lastname@example.org, tel: 01524 592525).
When is the deadline for applying?
The deadline for applying for exam adjustments which are not on your ILSP is approximately six weeks prior to the summer exam period.
We cannot guarantee to meet requests after this date. If you already have exam arrangements in place from a previous academic year they will remain in place for your future exams and you do not need to notify us.
What evidence is required?
To apply for an exam adjustment you will need to provide appropriate evidence. If you have a Specific Learning Difficulty (SpLD) such as dyslexia, a post-16 educational psychologist's report is needed. For other types of disability, medical evidence from a specialist medical practitioner or doctor is required. The evidence should explain why alternative examination arrangements are needed.
