General Information

Lancaster University has introduced a new Carers Bursary for 19/20 to contribute towards travel costs for students who are commuting to provide care for a family member.  Students travelling to care for a family member within Lancaster and Morecambe will be ineligible for this support.

Currently we have funding to grant 66 bursaries and these will be allocated on a first-come-first-served basis to applicants that meet the criteria.

Unfortunately we are not able to guarantee that the bursary will be available in future years.
Application Procedure

 

To meet eligibility for the Student Carers Bursary, students must be able to provide evidence of their Caring responsibility. Please supply evidence with the completed application form to support this. If you have a recent statement that you are a Carer you can use this. Otherwise we would accept a letter signed by a medical professional (GP or specialist) satisfying the following criteria:

  • Printed on headed paper
  • Dated within the last 12 months
  • Includes a timeframe of relevance
  • Confirm the ill/disabled family member’s relationship to the student
  • Confirm the illness/disability of the family member

 

Please submit the above, complete a Carers Bursary application form and submit this to The Base, University House or email to Student Funding
