(Those on joint degree schemes that include one of the specified subjects are also eligible).

General Information

Donald Watt was a mature student at Lancaster University in the late 1980's, taking a degree in Religious Studies. After his death in 2008 his widow Margot established a legacy pledge to the University. On Margot's death in 2014 the legacy was made to the University.

This is a new fund which is designed to support students in financial need who have made outstanding academic progression on to their next year study. It is intended to reward applicants who did not receive a University scholarship based on their entry grades, but have since performed at a high academic level on commencing their studies at Lancaster.

  • 1st Years are not eligible
  • Applicants must not be in receipt of a Lancaster Scholarship on entry or any other departmental scholarship. 
  • Awards will be considered based on academic merit and financial need.
  • Applicants must have passed all modules in the previous academic year at the first attempt, and achieved an overall aggregation score from all modules of at least 17.5.
  • Applicants must supply a good supporting statement outlining their academic achievements of the previous year and submit a supporting reference from their department which evidences their strong academic performance.

The outcome of your application will be emailed to you at the start of the Lent term.  Successful applicants will receive the award paid in two equal instalments in Lent and Summer term.
