An online live lecture from Dr Kathryn Toghill, as well as the opportunity to ask questions.
Chemists have a major role to play in decarbonising our future, one aspect of which Kathryn will discuss in her talk; large scale electricity storage. The 19th century bore Michael Faraday, a pioneer in harnessing electricity from chemical reactions. In the 21st century we look to chemically derived electricity to replace burning fossil fuels, alongside major strides in renewable electricity generation. Kathryn will overview research relating to metal coordination compounds used as battery chemicals, where an understanding of molecular structure, electrochemistry and chemical synthesis is allowing us to purposefully design the perfect energy storage molecule.
