Contemporary Copyright and Cultural Heritage Law

This module provides students with the opportunity to engage with some of the most innovative research in the fields of copyright and cultural heritage law. Typically you will have the chance to gain:

· an advanced understanding of the interdisciplinary interactions between the two fields;

· establish a foundational knowledge of copyright law; express the jurisprudential underpinnings of copyright the implications of its modern applications;

· identify interactions amongst intellectual property, tangible and intangible cultural heritage, and technology;

· and demonstrate specific knowledge about the forefront of contemporary copyright research (such as: copyright in digital reproductions of cultural objects; ownership of virtual property; commercialisation of cultural heritage; functionality and fashion; and criminality in modern copyright).
