Entry Requirements

Admission Requirements

In order to participate in one of our summer schools, you must meet the following criteria:

+ Be at least 18 years old at the start of the programme

+ Where applicable, meet pre-requisites for chosen programme

+ Be in good academic standing and passed year 1 of Undergraduate studies

+ If you come from a country where English is not an official language then you will need to provide proof of your language ability

+If you come from a country where English is an official language, you do not have to submit proof of language ability

 

Students studying a Lancaster University degree with one of our partners:

+ Are automatically eligible for enrolment based on English requirements and do not need to provide language qualifications to apply

+ Need to be in good academic standing and passed year 1 of studies

 

Language requirements for students from non-English speaking countries

All students on summer schools must have a good level of English in order to ensure they can participate fully and have a quality experience. We therefore require students who come from a country where English is not an official language to submit evidence of suitable English Language qualifications. Proof of any of the following will be accepted*:

+ International English Language Testing System (IELTS): 6 overall with a minimum of 5.5 in each component

+ College English Test (CET) level 4: 530

+ College English Test (CET) level 6: 493

 

If courses at your institution have been taught in English for at least two years, then:

+ A transcript and letter of recommendation from a tutor will be accepted in lieu of a language certificate. The letter of recommendation should attest to both your language proficiency as well as your academic ability.

 

*We will accept any language qualification that is internationally recognised and at a level that is equivalent to the standards above

 

Application process

Applications will open at the end of January. Register you interest here.

To apply, you will need a copy of your official university transcript, and may need proof of your English proficiency. The deadline for application is 26 April 2019. You do not need to apply if your home university is submitting a group application on your behalf. Please check with your home university if you think this might apply to you.

Application timeline 

Once you submit your application form, we aim to assess the form within two weeks. You will then be sent an offer letter with a link to pay the programme fee. Once we have received payment, we will issue you with a visa letter and information on how to apply for a visa.

You do not need to apply for accommodation, this is included in the summer school package.

Approximately one month before you arrive, we will send you an email with further information about the programme and arrivals details. If you have any questions, please check the Frequently Asked Questions page or email us.

 

Please read the terms and conditions before you apply including the cancellation policy. Each summer school is subject to a minimum enrolment of 12 students - if this number is not met, we reserve the right to cancel the programme.

Fees

Here, you can see the tuition and accommodation breakdown for summer school fees. Students are expected to pay the overall fee in one lump sum before arriving in the UK.

Tuition fee breakdown:
The tuition fee for 10 credits / 6 ECTS / 3 US is £1,178
The tuition fee for 15 credits / 8 ECTS / 4 US is £1,767

The catered accommodation fees are as follows:
2 weeks £889
3 weeks £1,335
4 weeks £1,780

The accommodation fees include a catered ensuite single room with most meals provided during the summer schools. Meals are not provided when away from campus during scheduled overnight trips, e.g. London. If you are staying away from Lancaster University as part of the scheduled programme, then the accommodation facilities will vary.
