Why did you choose Lancaster University?

I received several encouraging recommendations from peers who had already studied at Lancaster. I found the collegiate system quite unique. I also found out that my department (School of Computing & Communications) has a very good reputation. These factors motivated me to choose Lancaster University.

What do you feel is the best aspect of studying at Lancaster University?

The collegiate system allows you to have a wider social circle of people from different departments. The academic staff are very friendly and approachable. There are lots of extra-curricular activities to get involved in.

What’s best about the social life at Lancaster?

The student population is extremely diverse. Interacting with people from different backgrounds and nationalities has been a great learning experience for me.

How does Lancaster University provide you with support, advice and guidance?

Spend time looking through the university website and you find that there are plenty of organisations on campus that are very helpful for students. From my experience I have received a lot of career-related support from Careers and they were very proactive in helping me win the Lancaster Award. Even LUSU provides a wide array of support services for students.

What advice would you give to students considering studying at Lancaster University?

  • 1: Get involved in as many events and competitions as possible.
  • 2: Attend educational or career-related seminars that are frequently advertised on campus.
  • 3: Be an active member of at least a few societies/organisations.

These are great ways to meet new people and to learn something new.
