As CEO of Templar Executives, I have long understood the role education plays in fostering and developing the right skills and culture to successfully utilise Cyberspace for business and societal benefits. Templar Executives itself has a world-class Cyber Academy with courses ranging from supporting Boards to the front line and society as a whole. Our experience has shown us that good Cyber Security requires great leadership, therefore we wanted to expand our portfolio into postgraduate education. The Cyber Security world is a relatively small world and the work of Lancaster University was well known to us. Their reputation in this space was further reinforced by colleagues at NCSC that I spoke to and it was an obvious next step for us to collaborate and partner with Lancaster University.
This exciting new partnership combines the expertise of Lancaster University, one of the UK’s premier Cyber Security research and education universities and executive education providers, with Templar Executives an award-winning international Cyber Security consultancy providing strategic advice and training to governments and commercial organisations across the world. The goal of the partnership was to design and deliver an innovative Cyber Executive MBA (CEMBA), aimed specifically at C-suite executives that will help drive business resilience and growth in local and global organisations. The CEMBA cuts across academic disciplines and will be taught by experts from Lancaster University’s School of Computing and Communications and Lancaster University Management School, along with executive-level professionals from Templar Executives’ cadre of world-class Cyber Security experts.
This ambition also supports UK national and government strategies for the UK to be the ‘safest place to do business online’ in the world. The CEMBA will highlight the need to engrain Cyber Security throughout organisational culture and there will be a key focus on how Cyber Security can drive opportunities for business growth. The combination of industry professionals and academic expertise will create a course with an emphasis on tackling and learning from current real-world examples and cross disciplinary challenges. In terms of more detail, the CEMBA will be guided by the three pivotal principles of responsibility, sustainability, and inclusivity. The programme will cover key management areas ranging from digital innovation and entrepreneurship to regulation, legislation and governance and core Cyber Security technology concepts. In addition, this programme will equip participants with the necessary language, tools and techniques to succeed in Cyber Security, business and management.
