Don’t Ditch It during the Festive Season

In the lead-up to the Festive season, Green Lancaster runs a range of events and campaigns to promote sustainability, efficiency and upcycling.

Merry Christmas!

As the end of term approaches, Green Lancaster is putting in place Don't Ditch It project donation points across colleges for students to donate household goods for distribution to a large network of charities and upcycling via the ECOShop. Look out for green and red crates in your college!

From Wednesday 13th to Sunday 17th December 2023, donate your clean and sorted household goods from the list below:

  • Clothing and Bedding (please use clear recycling bags at the donation point)
  • Kitchenware (ensure this is washed and in working condition)
  • Non-perishable food (sealed packets and tins only)
  • Books, stationery and electrical items
  • Household storage items such as coat hangers
  • Open food packets or perishables such as fresh food
  • Open bathroom products
  • General waste or recyclable materials (please use external bin stores across campus)

    Show us your home made Christmas decorations by sharing photos on social media using the hashtag #DontDitchIt and lets get some momentum going to help get the message out there! We'll be looking out for the most inspirational ideas to share over Christmas and who knows, maybe there will be a gift from Father Christmas in the new year for those with the best ideas!

  • Donate It

    Having a Christmas clearout? Don't just throw things away, upcycle them or better yet, donate them to someone who can really use them. We love getting gifts at Christmas, but giving is even better. Cut down on waste by giving unwanted gifts to those in need.

  • Create It

    The most fun of all, making gifts to give to loved ones. Push your creativity to its limits and show the people that mean most to you, just how much you care. We guarantee, the present you make for someone will be better received than the present you bought. Challenge accepted? Show us your gifts on social media using #DontDitchIt (make sure you've given the gift before posting!)

Making a New Years resolution?

Get involved with Green Lancaster in the New Year.
