It's a Grand Life - 11, 12, 13th November 2010 -7.30pm – Grand Theatre, Lancaster.

It’s a Grand Life is the story of the Lancaster landmark architectural gem. It chronicles the life of a building – The Grand Theatre - from 1782 to the present day - through the eyes of the Stage Manager and his daughter. The production, written by Ginny Scott, who has played and directed at the theatre for 25 years, brings together Footlights, Lancaster Choral Society, LADOS and Red Rose, in a kaleidoscope of entertainment. Charles Dickens, Paganini playing his ‘Caprice’ live and the famous 18th century actress Sarah Siddons will all make appearances as characters who comment on local Lancaster history.

The play shows the life of a building and its inhabitants over 228 years, through the ups and downs of wars, fire, threatened demolition, laughter and tears, to the present day. For anyone with a love of live theatre, or an interest in Lancaster’s past, this is an extravaganza not to be missed!
