Research by Professor Roger Penn (Maths and Statistics/Sociology) on the Children of International Migrants in Europe, continued to attract media attention this week in The Sun, Friday August 21 and The National on August 23. Last week he was interviewed on LBC radio and BBC Radio Manchester, August 20, and on BBC Radio Lancashire and Sunrise Radio, August 21. The story also appeared in the Daily Mail, August 20, and the Asian Image, August 20.

Debbie Mayes, a researcher in the Spectrum Centre for Mental Health Research who also has bipolar disorder, is featured in the Education Guardian 25th August about users of mental health services who are recruited as academic researchers

Professor Peter McClintock, Physics, is quoted in LiveScience.com and the Fox news website about predicting Rogue Waves.

Lucy Easthope based in the Division of Medicine and the Centre for Gender and Women's Studies was interviewed on BBC Radio Sheffield, 17th August and BBC Look North on 15th August about her research into flooding in Doncaster.

Sue Peters, Director of the LEAD programme, LUMS is featured in the Whitehaven News with a recent LEAD graduate Westlakes Engineering’s managing director Andy Hooper. The home-grown company is now one of the fastest growing civil and structural engineering firms in the UK.

Professor Cary Cooper was interviewed on BBC Radio Manchester, 24 August, about how emotional losses can lead to physical ill health. Professor Cooper was also interviewed on BBC World Service, 24 August, on the subject of mental health and wellbeing and how this can be adversely affected not only in the developed world but also the developing world as well, the interview was part of Global Mental Health Week.

Research by Will Medd and his colleagues at the Lancaster Environment Centre into Hull flooding was featured in the Times Higher Education (THE) as part of a story on the Royal Geographical Society's annual conference.
