A radio programme by Professor Simon Bainbridge (English and Creative Writing) will be broadcast on Radio 3 this Sunday (16 December) at 7.45pm. In it he travels to Paris and Waterloo to examine the responses of the British Romantic writers to their contemporary Napoleon Bonaparte.

Professor Mark Shackleton (LUMS) was interviewed on BBC Breakfast on 13 December about the economics of shale gas ahead of the announcement by the energy minister about fracking . This was reported by BBC Radio 4 , BBC Shropshire and BBC Newcastle. He was also interviewed on BBC Radio Scotland and Radio Lancashire.

Student Jonnet Middleton was interviewed on BBC Radio 4’s You and Yours, 12 December , about making her own clothes.

Professor Linda Woodhead (PPR) was interviewed on BBC Radio 4, 9 December, about peoples responses to the 2011 National Census in respect of their religious beliefs. (Listen again at 0.50 into the programme.)

North West Cancer Research Fellow Nikki Copeland, Dr Jane Owen-Lynch head of Biomedical and Life Sciences and Dr Sarah Allinson, also from Biomedical and Life Sciences, were interviewed by BBC Radio Lancashire about their research. This was during an event to showcase work funded by North West Cancer Research.

An article in Gas International about a survey of 1000 managers by Professor Cary Cooper (LUMS) and Les Worrall ( Coventry) says it paints a bleak picture of the impact of the recession on UK workplaces.

Professor Cooper was interviewed by BBC London, morning programme, about the damage that long working hours does to people at work and was on the sofa for BBC 1 TV, Breakfast News, reading the Sunday papers 9 December .
