Professor Phil Haygarth (LEC) was interviewed on BBC’s Country File on Sunday 5 February (24 minutes in) as part of a feature about organic farming and water quality across Britain. Professor Haygarth is lead on the Eden DTC a national research project worth nearly £2 million. Working closely with the Environment Agency and Defra, the project undertakes research and monitoring activities on diffuse pollution in the River Eden in Cumbria.

Professor Ian Walker’s research into the impact of postgraduate study is referenced in The Daily Telegraph - 11 February.

Professor Bart Lambrecht (LUMS) is featured in the Financial Times as the Financial Times professor of the week.

Dr David George (LEC) featured on the first episode of BBC2’s 'Bees, Butterflies and Blooms' providing a background to a LEC-led HortLINK Project on flowering field margins and how they can help farmers improve pest control and pollination in field crops. The program aired at 8pm on Wednesday 8 February and can be viewed on BBC iplayer.

Professor Jennie Popay (Sociology) has had a letter published in the The Independent , 13 February, about why GPs oppose NHS changes.

Professor Kim Knott’s (PPR) paper from the first Lancaster-led Westminster Faith Debate was quoted in a piece in The Telegraph on Sunday 12 February .

Distinguished Professor Terry Eagleton (English Literature) is featured on the Ekklesia website in connection with a faith lecture he is delivering on the theme of ‘Culture and the Death of God’.

Dr Robin Gilmour (Psychology), was quoted in The Telegraph and Vancouver Sun about what causes attraction between men and women.

A report by Professor Sylvia Walby, UNESCO Chair in Gender Research, and Jude Towers which shows that public spending cuts have resulted in cuts in provision of services for women and girls at risk of violence was featured on the Association of Charitable Foundations website.

Professor Cary Cooper (LUMS) was quoted in HR Magazine , and was also interviewed on BBC Sky sport radio about the stress on football managers , and also on BBC Radio Ulster, 15 February about whether children should be taught about failure at school.

Mike Berners-Lee of LEC associate company Small World Consulting and Professor Nick Hewitt (LEC) were featured on the Yubanet website about their study into the carbon footprint of meat. Also featured on Sustainable Guernsey website, Food Product Design and Daily Me.

Professor David Allsop, (SHM) was quoted on the BBC about new results from research with mice into Alzheimer’s, he was also quoted in The Week, and My Joy Online.

Professor Linda Woodhead (PPR) has written an article about Christianity in the Guardian online.

Professor Bill Davies (LEC), is quoted Lancashire Evening Post about Lancaster University’s new agreement with Myerscough College to develop research on environmental and agricultural issues.

Dr Alan Crosby (History) was mentioned in the North West Evening Mail about a talk he gave on medieval guilds.

The Work Foundation coverage this week includes: The chief executive of Core Media, Alan Cox quotes a Work Foundation / Lancaster University report that found shows a clear link between countries' degree of advertising spend and a range of important economic outcomes in ADWorld.

Charles Levy, senior researcher, had a letter printed in The Evening Standard on the inflation figures (15 Feb).

Brian Groom cited TWF’s work on average job tenure in an article for Financial Times Online (13 Feb).

Ian Brinkley appeared on the panel for BBC Radio 5 Live’s debate on unemployment. This was simultaneously broadcast on the BBC News Channel (skip to approx 11.30).

Andrew Sissons, researcher, was interviewed by Huw Edwards live on BBC News Channel and was also interviewed on BBC R5 Live’s Wake Up To Money. Excerpts were used on BBC Radio 5 Live Breakfast, as well as seven BBC local radio stations, including BBC Radio London, Essex, Gloucestershire, Lancashire, Leicester, Oxford and Sussex.
