Peter Hennessy, the leading expert on state secrecy, talks to History PhD student Kerstin Smith on Radio 4’s Archive on 4 programme about great spy novels. The programme called Great Spy Books: Fact or Fiction? will be broadcast on Saturday at 8pm. The programme will explore how close the great British spy novels come to reality and what they reveal about the top secret world of intelligence and security - MI5, MI6 and Whitehall.
