New Facebook feature to increase brand awareness

facebook shop2

Facebook is no longer just a tool to share your latest selfie. A new feature has recently been announced which will allow facebook users to search for items to buy from business pages and groups.

New products can already be promoted using Facebook and other social media. We’ve all seen buy and sell pages from our local areas, as well as Facebook ads for products and services, so what’s new? Instead of creating random pages or groups to sell products, businesses and consumers will be able to use a single area or shop section to advertise and buy whilst browsing on Facebook. Some commentators point out the similarities between this new platform and existing retail areas like Amazon marketplace.

LU Creative Services Framework- Opportunities to tender

Lancaster University Marketing and Procurement teams creating new creative services framework

The LU Marketing and Procurement teams are currently working together with colleagues across the University to create an EU tender for a creative services framework.

The framework will enable Lancaster University to appoint a selection of suppliers to deliver services in design, video and photography for up to 4 years, with the intention of encouraging value for money and consistency. In all cases, these teams are hoping to appoint 3+ suppliers and each area will have sub-categories to ensure a range of suppliers are appointed.

If you would like more information on the tendering process, or would be interested in putting your business forward as a potential supplier, contact Clare Riding, Head of Marketing, here.

Make it British plan a special event for British fashion and textiles start ups

Meet the Manufacturer

Since the Make it British website began nearly 4 years ago they have been inundated with people contacting them looking to find factories in the UK to make their products.

The majority of those that get in touch are looking to find a UK manufacturer to make clothes, accessories or leather goods, and almost without fail they say they have been able to find someone for them to make their products. The companies that are searching for these factories are everything from large High Street names to designers just starting out. Some are looking to bring their production back from overseas, whilst for others manufacturing in the UK is an intrinsic part of their brand and they wouldn’t consider making anywhere else.

Following years of talking to others in the industry about the whys and wherefores of working with UK manufacturers the Make It British team are connected to a whole world of possibilities and challenges that are particular to sourcing in the UK; which is why Make it British are often asked to speak at events on the subject.

With so many more people looking to work with British factories, which is of course a great thing both for the manufacturers themselves as well as the UK economy,  the organisation has decided that the best way of exposing as many people as possible to the manufacturers is to hold a trade show with them all present.

Plans are already underway for what will be the UK’s first sourcing event for British only fashion & textile manufacturers, proudly brought to you by Make it British. It will be held on the 11th & 12th June at the Old Truman Brewery in East London and will feature the best knitters, weavers, tanneries, leather goods  makers, CMT* units and lingerie factories in the British Isles.
