Online Teachers and Advisers Conference 2020

Thank you for your interest in our Teachers and Advisers Conference.

Our Online Teachers and Advisers Conference took place on Thursday 4th June 2020. 

Our sessions included:

  • An introduction from our Vice-Chancellor, Andy Schofield
  • Supporting Students Through COVID-19, delivered by Tom Buckley, Director of Recruitment, Admissions and International Development
  • Admissions Update, delivered by Sue Davies, Head of Admissions
  • UCAS Update, delivered by Sam Sykes (UCAS)
  • The Power of Peer-to-Peer, delivered by Ian Pierson (Unibuddy)
  • Why Lancaster? and Close, delivered by Karen Burns, Student Recruitment Manager

Delegates had the opportunity to ask questions to each speaker, as well as to our team of experts across the university.

Admissions Update

An overview of the changing landscape of University Admissions, focusing on changes within the current admissions cycle and plans for 2021 and beyond

UCAS Update

This session will include a short update on the current situation including confirming dates and timings for Clearing and confirmation. It will also include an update of Clearing Plus and self-release for students receiving awarded grades this summer.

There will also be short summary of the resources/support available to teachers/advisers for both the 2020 and new 2021 cycle, and a quick overview of UCAS Hub

The Power of Peer-to-Peer

Drawing on over a million messages that Unibuddy has facilitated, we now have a unique insight into what questions students can and should be asking at each stage of the cycle. 

We will discuss how peer-to-peer can support students during the decision making process and show how Careers Advisers who currently use Unibuddy on UCAS as a guidance tool are doing.

An overview of Why Lancaster?, and an introduction to our student recruitment team and our school engagement activities.  

We will also provide information on the support we are offering to help with the challenges for HE progression during Covid progression.
