The 'Streets of Mourning' project is a collaboration between the Department of History, Lancaster University, the Lancaster Military Heritage Group, the
Lancaster Civic Society and the Lancaster King's Own Regiment Museum. This collaboration
will enable members of the public to better understand the impact the losses of large numbers of young men had on Lancaster; an industrial town in the North-West of England.
On this website you can find out who, from each street or school was killed in the First World War, by using the menu items to search alphabetically or by clicking the markings on the map. Data of the casualites draws heavily on material from the Reveille Website created by Lancaster Military Heritage Group.
The project has been supported by a grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund. Thanks to National Lottery players, we can better understand such losses and disseminate this information
to a wide range of interested groups.
