Baxendale Walter Colonel South Rhodesian Volunteers, died of wounds as a Prisoner of War, in East Africa, he emigrated to Rhodesia in 1895, and had a distinguished career, rising from the ranks and serving in several military campaigns, he was mayor of Bulawayo twice and competed at Bisley in 1902, and became PM of the Freemason's Lodge. His wife died in August 1913, leaving a son, who is staying with his uncle, Mr J J Baxendale, Confectioner, Stonewell, Lancaster, His father was the late Mr Jonathan Baxendale, confectioner and sweet manufacturer, Stonewell, Lancaster.

Brunskill Joseph Private 4th Grenadier Guards died of wounds, 1915, age 23, native of Scotforth, educated at National school, employed as a farm servant near Accrington. Son of Mrs Seekins, 9, Ashford Road, Scotforth and step brother of Lance Corporal S Seekins (2016). Two brothers are still serving.
