Introduction

I am a final year PhD student at the STOR-i CDT in Lancaster, a Doctoral Training Centre sitting at the interface between statistics, operational research, and industry. My research focus is in the emerging field of Simulation Analytics, which involves the application of machine learning methods to data generated by a stochastic simulation.

STOR-i

The STOR-i CDT is an EPSRC-funded Centre for Doctoral Training at Lancaster University. It's the scene of leading research efforts in statistics and operational research, with a strong focus on industry collaboration. The training programme begins with a one-year MRes course, which gives exposure to a range of research areas. This is followed by a three-year PhD project, many of which are developed with industrial partners. Over recent years, STOR-i has developed links with leading UK industries such as BT, Met Office, and Rolls Royce. A full list of the current PhD collaborators can be found here. These valuable partnerships allow for practicable research where the often disconnected worlds of academia and industry combine.
