PhD Supervision Interests

I am very interested to hear from potential applicants for PhD projects on 'hate crime'; antisemitism; 'race', racism, crime and justice; crime and human rights; equality of opportunity and workplace diversity. I am happy to talk through informally ideas for projects and support applicants through the application process at Lancaster University.

Current Teaching

I teach the undergraduate option courses Hate Crime, Human Rights and the State and Criminological Perspectives on Violenceand also contribute lectures to our core undergraduate Criminology modules.

I joined Lancaster University in September 2007 after seven years in the Sociology department at the University of Essex where I taught research methodology and methods at undergraduate and postgraduate levels and convened the MA Criminological Research. I also taught across a number of criminology courses with a particular input on crime and human rights and cultural criminology.
