Professor of Criminology and Criminal Justice,Paul is on the Management Board of the Lancaster University ESRC Centre for Corpus Approaches to Social Sciences (CASS) and leads a CASS research project onThe management of hateful invective by the courts.His latest book,Hate Crime. A Global Perspective,written together with Jack Levin from Northeastern University's Brudnick Center on Violence and Conflict, in Boston, was published in May 2015. Professor Iganski researches in the areas of 'Hate crimes', violence, victim impacts, victimology andhate crime offender rehabilitation.

PhD Supervision Interests

Professor Iganski is very interested to hear from potential applicants for PhD projects on 'hate crime'; antisemitism; 'race', racism, crime and justice; crime and human rights; equality of opportunity and workplace diversity. He is happy to talk through informally ideas for projects and support applicants through the application process at Lancaster University.

Current Teaching

I teach the undergraduate option courses Hate Crime, Human Rights and the State and Criminological Perspectives on Violenceand also contribute lectures to our core undergraduate Criminology modules.

I joined Lancaster University in September 2007 after seven years in the Sociology department at the University of Essex where I taught research methodology and methods at undergraduate and postgraduate levels and convened the MA Criminological Research. I also taught across a number of criminology courses with a particular input on crime and human rights and cultural criminology.
