Multilingual French Identities

newspaper cuttings

The ‘Multilingual French Identities’ conference aims to identify the influence of multilingualism and its representation in the arts and culture of the francophone world. It seeks to explore the ways in which multilingual cultures are formulated and represented in literatures, visual arts and philosophy within the monolingual context of French republicanism and the francophone legacy of non-French cultures. How are multilingual cultures negotiated in the francophone world? How have multilingual francophone cultures transformed and challenged the monolingual nationalisms of their host countries through literature and the arts?
