Welcome

Mike Roberts mug shotWelcome to my web pages. In them, you can find out about me, my lab, and the research that we perform within the Lancaster Environment Centre.

The Group

sampleI am involved in the supervision of several funded research projects which include technical staff, post-doctoral research associates and PhD students.

Follow the 'People' menu for more information.

Our Research

sampleOur research is centred around understanding plant responses to stress. I have a strong interest in understanding the fundamental processes underlying plant resistance against environmental stress, but also in applying this knowledge to crop protection solutions.

Mike Roberts' Plant Stress Biology Group

leafWelcome to my new website, which has undergone a major upgrade for 2013/14. I thought it was about time that I replaced my old web pages, which were very out of date, with something that more accurately reflects the work we're doing now. Some of the old stuff - my now moth-balled work on 14-3-3 proteins - are still here in their original state. I won't be doing any updates on those, but the rest is all new, and I'll try and refresh content as and when needed.

News

NewsPhD Studentship for 2015: We have been awarded a BBSRC Industrial CASE (iCASE) PhD studentship to start in October 2015. The project will examine how defence-primning seed treatments can improve integrated pest and disease management in commercial crop production systems. The application process will open soon.

Grant funding: Dr Prashant Singh recently joined the lab working on a 3-year project to study the epigenetic basis of transgenerational immune priming in plants. Welcome Prashant.
