We will equip you with the real-world skills required to help you tackle some of the biggest challenges facing our planet, whether it's researching underlying scientific principles, the development of new treatments for disease, helping to protect endangered species, or trying to make sure the world has enough food.
Lancaster was one of the first universities in the world to offer a degree in Ecology and we are still a national leader in this area. We will provide you with a thorough grounding in ecological theory and practice and you will gain a deep understanding of how these relate to the conservation of species and the ecosystems in which they live.
Environmental or Earth sciences at Lancaster will uniquely equip you to work on major global challenges, including climate change, water and soil pollution, food production and the management of hazards such as flooding or volcanic eruptions. Our degrees were ranked in the UK top 5 in the 2017 Guardian University Guide.
Our world-leading researchers cover the diversity of contemporary human and physical geography, using exciting teaching methods to explore critical social, political and environmental questions. Lancaster is rated in the Top 50 Geography courses across the world by QS World University Rankings and within the UK top 5 in the 2017 Guardian University Guide.
