Taxonomy

The Interculture Project Taxonomy is a hierarchically organised set of features grounded in students' accounts of their intercultural experience and brought together by the project consortium. It has been used as a framework for coding and accessing data collected by The Interculture Project, using the software programme QSR NUD*IST, a flexible search instrument which allows multiple examples of intercultural issues to be investigated. The NUD*IST-accessible data base which is held at Lancaster University is the basis for the more simplified and user-friendly structures used by SARA and STEFE.

The taxonomy can also be used a pedagogical tool itself, as suggested in the  sub-project report on Integration of the Period of Residence Abroad and De-Briefing, which is downloadable as an RTF file, approx. 436K
