Tesla

The unit of measurement quantifying the strength of a magnetic field.  Currently the most common strength used in research and clinical practice (e.g., in using SQUIDs) is 3 Tesla.  Prior to the 3-Tesla Machine  the most common high-field system was 1.5 Tesla.  A 3-Tesla MRI system generates a magnetic field that is twice thestrength of a 1.5 Tesla system.
