Practical (h)ELP: support for Portfolios
I - Theoretical: the language matrix - linking the CEFR, ELP and the Learner Part 1 of this presentation illustrates the theoretical underpinning of the ELP with reference to its intrinsic relationship with the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR).
II - Practical: the Language Biography and intercultural competences This draws on our experience in Trieste over the last five years using the ELP with upper secondary and adult learners. It outlines ideas for introducing the ELP into the classroom and how the ELP can be integrated into motivating, communicative practical classroom activities.
III - The Future: the eELP (electronic version of the ELP) The final part will look at the next generation of ELPs and in particular the impact of electronic versions on classroom teachers: how this will affect the choice of materials and the impact of learner priorities on teaching practice. Attention will also be paid to the qualitative enhancements that the new generation of ELPs will bring. An assessment will be made of EUROPASS together with the introduction of standardised CVs for learners. Finally, there will be a brief overview of the benefits of a Teachers’ ELP.
