No 87 88 (89. Bacon Palace 112
Just behind the Palazzo Priuli is another, now carefully
daguerreotyped: called by valet.
Its back forms a bridge - or is traversed by a Sotto portico
which closes the calle -
This view of it daguerreotyped also:
The two lower windows are pure Byzantine 3rd dentil
and all while they are yet carried on capitals of
the superb red Verona marble - same as front - grand
The outer line of dentils are however larger and massy leaves: Now here, we have pure
[diagram] averaging this. Byzantine 3rds or late capitals; and in Campo
Sta Maria formosa, impure late 3rds on pure
Byzantine Capitals!
No 87 is however the one to the right of the
two windows - fig 1 rude profile with joints of
dentil and inlaid stone all in their relative places
though quite out of proportion: The figures are the
number of dentils in each piece of stone - counting
them thus [diagram] Fig 2 is top of inner
dentil, the outer top is managed in same way: fig
3; one of the half dentils of inner row, traced close.
Fig 2 is traced: but the stone is more worn There.
No 88. Fits into the arch soffit, in being in
of fig 1 in No 87.
