Rialto. The building (renaissance) close to it opposite Fondaco de
Tedeschi was built in reign of Andrea Gritti about 1530. The coat of arms is of course in stone and very early I hardly
- it was the Republics treasury or office of the Camerlenghi. remember any other leaves with the sharp double incision run
into one at the root. They are of course Byzantine in manner,
fig 6 the one above the thong of pendant shield: (whose {wrong}
sharp {up} turn about the nail is curious - the carver seems to
have been puzzled by it.) fig 5 the top of one of the
lower angle leaves, on right hand.
Finally the setting of the bits of brick is most carefully
at the top of gable in p 28 and counting the bit so
marked as 2. there are 32 rows to the butment sharp
lowest angle below x p 29 and these are then carefully
drawn in their true fan like radiation, the same as
post office door. The bricks being about 1½ inch wide.
so also those of the archivolt band my, there being
about 64 round the arch.
