to show the arrangement of the dentils: b above c below the
capital: the two on the left, with their intermediate ornament
go right round the whole window, as a square border, though
curiously involved; they are seen in the section E. of No 17.
another dentil appears in the section b here; this goes round
the ogee arch, and is the dentil marked d c in section
A of No 17 while a b there is the large dentil e f of section
E: The square line round section a is the abacus head: which
has a slight excess over the pilasters as seen in the sections b c
of No 23.
The smaller window is executed with precisely the same tracery
as the others: onlythe cusps, instead of being merely filleted,
are cut clear through & left as open bands; the same bands join
the head in the centre of the 4 foil like notre dame, but the
head is most rudely cut: The second roll which forms the
central tracery bars is carried through the figure A. opposite
melting truly into itself at the junctions. The stonework is
not cut open either in the spaces a or b. The other drawing
on No 23 is of course the true contour.

Beginning with pure Byzantine domestic; we have the stilted
round arch: [diagram] St Marks flanking arches, all alike ecclesiastical
