Note in the pinnacles of the great (west?) door the pannel fleur de lys
foliation, drawn in no. looking like some of the abortions
of dying Gothic in France: Yet this, here, is evidently a
modification of the Byzantine or Lombard double arch,
so often found in St Mark’s, as on the left of my elaborate
drawing: and again in the curious Byzantine palace down
the grand canal near Rialto. Find out origin and application
