No 49, 50 Ca' Pisani 70
4 foil, a of A is a very akward affair, fig 6 and its
section added to the tracery bar in fig 2 its fillet note much
deeper than Foscari. One of the capitals of the arcade is
drawn in the centre; its angle leaves are entirely detached
from the bell except at their roots, above; and they join
tips round - like hands: I never saw anything so daring
The bell below is with exquisite feeling, made very
plain, with straight ribs and lines of lobe. Not one of
the capitals is however like another. though all are equally daring.
I never saw so small an abacus, or so little curved a bell,
vide section 4. Pils at end fig 5 - heading and abacus the
same; Bases Lombard vide House book. Six Eight windows
of 6th order, with heavy but rude finials, at the sides,
highly curious,being worked with section 3 d e with
roll for dentil. Note shallow cavetto like Foscari, while
it is deep in the fig 2. All these windows are now lathed
and plastered up, but I doubtnot they have had cusps like
the rest. The lions heads in main arcade are very fine
in the flow of their hair, evidently worked by the artist
of the capitals.
No 49. Fig 1. Cornice of St Gregorio vid No
Fig 2. Base of the circular angle shaft of the Great
Foscari.
