No 52, 53, 54 Ca’ Dandolo 72
are marked at the side; and as far as my eye could tell, I
[diagram] think the single stone which forms the cusp on each side
of arch, is a little altered towards the reverse curve between
d & e, before it comes to the joint, thus differing in system
from the 5th order windows: In the section fig 4 I cannot
be positively certain that the roll is greater than a [diagram] but
I think so: I could not reach it. I think the chamfer
is slightly ch but am not certain even of this. Note however
the flat cavetto which is certain and somewhat flat dentil.
This section gives true interval between dentils on pil. head
that between those on shaft head is about 6in.
No 52. Fig 1 - 2: profile, real size, joining at x: of the
Capitals shaft head on the left of the arch fig 1 No 51.
This shaft head is the simplest possible Lombard: [diagram]
the angle leaves being mere truncations, not ribbed or
in any wise touched; and the base of the leaf when it
falls on roll, is hardly rounded; the plan being as at
A opposite, and the space a b, (root of leaf) = 2¾ in
and b-c (interval) (rounded) 5¼ Fig 3 represents
the side look of the truncation; real size, & shows distance
from angle of abacus.
The entire circumference at x is 2 " 7 at y 2 " 3½
halfway down shaft still 2 " 3½ ! and at base of
shaft only 2 " 4½ The real base however is concealed
