[diagram] No 72 Ducal palace Traceries 96
equal in breadth on both sides, should = a b in 68 D. which
was traced on it. the inside of the cusp should look
1 like fig 1 opp; and its outside fig 2 68 D gives one cusp
with the place of fillet and second order inside
complete.
A further account of this 2nd window at p 105 Now, note in these windows, that when their cusps
are solid, the second order goes to their edge: but
when they are cut open, by chiselling away through
the fillet, the second order is confined to the incision.
It is a curious system, and I do not in the least see
the use of this second order at all.
(3) No 72 is 68 L. taken more accurately: to with exact
relations of the two orders and sections of cusps.)
The Second Window: That of the side next prisons: but nearest
the sea: On my drawings of this I must depend for
both, they being in everything alike but mere pattern of
tracery: and both different form facade windows.
2 This second window then is given in 68 G. as noted above p 91
only Fig 1 is sadly rude and scrawled & blackened, at the
right, nor are its leaves of true contour, but merely placed.
Its shaded point is thejamb section: the semicircular
shaft let in at the two joints.
The smallest Daguerreotype is the tracery of this window.
