                                                                      		the same together:  if then on either side of the scale:
                                                                      		the value be O: this will cancel the rank on the other
                                                                      		side;  and make the supposed art not an art at all.  This
                                                                      		will be the case with various subjects of intelligence
                                                                      		only;  with jugglery, and games as chess, etc;  and other
                                                                      		exercises of the body or the intellect which have no object;
                                                                      		and so on the other hand with mechanical operations -
                                                                      		weaving, etc which have an object but require no
                                                                      		productive power except mere habits of bodily movement.
                                                                      	a.	But by the definition of an Art, any thing which has
                                                                      		not in its structure something of both; is not an art -
                                                                      		if therefore the value on either side of the scale be
                                                                      		zero, the subject of estimate is not an Art;  the fair
                                                                      		way of ascertaining - etc
                                                                      		But even in this attempt we are met by fresh difficulties.
