Cusps. How the Cusp came to this transitional 5th is still a
matter of question with me: I cannot but think it now not
s[a]o much an omission of the 4th and 5th as an imitation
of the Dominican, and Francescan Ecclesiastical Gothic.
The house which bear most on the origin of the cusp are

This emacoli one, a beautiful cut cusp with most delic[v]ate interposed between the 5th.
I have no doubt that this is the Venetian final interpre-
tation of the Circles built in from Aguleia etc: In the
Palazzo Gundibea, we have the 5th with horizontal
shield decoration; in the Pruli, and
we have circles on each side - or, as at S. M. Matre
Domini and the Bacon Pruli at the top.
