--- House No 55, H b 1 in fig 1 the band of the shaft, observe
that the cavette appeared to me constructed thus
but only of curves that blended into
one line of this however I cannot
be quite certain, it is too small to judge:
The steps themselves are merely decorated on the side Staircase. Of the staircase only the trefoiled arches remain only
with an incision like a half breed: i.e. at the top - plan being exactly that of the Bembo one
p 118 Selvatico - They have been as at fig 2 plain
incised - like Doge’s Palaces Capitals rude leafy
florid - seem to have been changed - All carrying a re-
naissance looking plinth fig 3 An arch over a gutter
which runs under the stair is about a foot wide of the
same trefoil as balustrade, very pretty so drawn in dark-
ness.
Below a in fig 1 is drawn the curious base, its roll end
cavette - or rather plain pyramidal or cornice base
are of course round on the square plinth which is in
same block; but now half buried, the half shaft; the
band being in the middle,
