No 15 - 16. CHURCH OF FRARI Ca’ d’Oro
The gables are sadly defaced: Their internal foliation
has been something as opposite. The lines of the arch
mouldings look like simple The base of the
shafts confused by brick and tile work - the shafts of
green marble. The cable moulding in the cornice below
(of bricks all but the string and brackets; left white)
is curious from its radiation; it is as I have drawn it
and as close in the coil: but there should be a space
between it and the diamonds as opposite. The arches below
run up, with the cornice, all along the façade, exactly
as at the San G and P only here, there is a piece of
brickwork of an Arabesque line above - as so often seen
in Canaletto; it is seen in perspective to the top,
with two bits of the shafts of the central and crowning
niche in my drawing. The arches of the cornice and their
bracket are drawn at a: the circular sunk holes of brick
each have a different filing; 5 more are given above
No 16 Fig 2 is not enough explained in drawing: The
fillet round the arch being produced by a slight hollow
seen in the section at A. which point is the A2 of the
drawn arch, and, B is B2 The leaves rise boldly out of
this depression.
