the brnaching of the tracery (with its central
which is marked by curved bms in the elevation) and
above it ought to have been below, the section of
the cusp at d or d2. This cusp is accurately drawn at
B. showing its shallow filleting and foliation, through
which the shaded section is drawn: the fillet and foliatin
are each about ¼ of an inch deep: Below B. the ugly
pendant is carefully drawn: I strongly suspect a
subsequent addition far below the masonry joint x, the
work is bad and slovenly, and the same is noticeable in
the lower joints of the central arcade, which are assuredly
clumsy restorations, at C2 is the cusp of the three
pointed and the round 4 foils which is merely filleted and
has no trefoil: and the cusp of r s has no fillet even:
but is quite plain D Not being quite satisfied with the
section at A., it is given larger, on the inside, it is
the same on both sides, in No 18 fig 2 with measures:
Now it is curious that in the larger window, next the ar-
cade, the portion m n o of this section is altered, and
instead of being it is
on the inside and on the outside: as shown
in fig 1 G of No 17 which was from the inside of that
window.
In fig 1 No 18 is given, in the same way as the tracery o
No 17, the most extrarordinary tracery of the lateral win-
dow on[j] the other side. The sections are identical: the
