     is never considered great art . and as it is necessary & right in its place .)
     We speak only of imitation with the sense of means. <* of which we may adduce
     as examples . the <*.*>architectural paintings of the old Flemish school  .

     architectural paintings of the old Flemish school . in which not only
     every brick is counted - and every stone bears the visible traces of the
10   masons chisel - but the <tone> ^ {delicate air tint} of sky - the purity of light . the <truthful
     colour <of> and> positive , substantial tone of all objects . have been
     <equally> studied with equal care . and laid down with a decision and
     truth which leave nothing to desire . either in the perfection of
     the imitation  , or the ease of means by which it has been obtained .
