Marshall of Headingly, Leeds; sale Christie's 28/4/1888 (32), bt in, under the name of 'Ponsford', descended in the Marshall family through Victor Marshall of Coniston, Lancs., to James Marshall; at Leicester Galleries for sale, but was later returned to the owner; acquired by John L. Severance from Knoedler in 1922 and bequeathed by him to the Cleveland Museum, 1936
Further Comments: Another oil by Turner of the same title and date is in the Philadelphia Museum of Art, USA. Also a vignette, engraved for 'The Keepsake' was made from this subject
