Further Comments: This work is based on a sample study of the same title of c.1841-2, which is now in the Tate Gallery. It was T. Griffith who sold the painting to Ruskin, but in some books, Ruskin is catalogued as the first owner, as he later falsely claimed that the work had been drawn especially for him!
